Canon 7-14mm Fisheye Lens Example Images

This page is mostly example images of the Canon 7-14mm fisheye lens in use. I’m not doing a full technical review or comparisons, just showing what it looks like when you take it out and use it in different situations.

Distortion

At 8mm, it’s very fisheye. You get the full distortion, curved lines, and that circular frame if you want it. But once you zoom in closer to 14mm, it starts to calm down a lot. You can still tell it’s wide, but it doesn’t feel like a gimmick. You can even correct it in editing and get something that looks pretty normal and usable.

Edge Detail

The image quality holds up really well, even toward the edges, which surprised me a bit. I’ve used the Sigma 8mm adapted to my full frame Canon R6 Mark II, and if you’re comparing edge quality, this lens definitely beats it. Especially if you’re correcting distortion, the Canon just holds together better.

Video

For video, it’s also really easy to use. It’s quiet, so if you don’t have an external mic set up, you can get away with just using the camera audio in a pinch. It’s not perfect, but it’s usable.

Overall Feel

It’s flexible. You can go full fisheye and exaggerate everything, or zoom in and get something that feels a lot more controlled and even kind of professional.
