A historic hydroelectric dam in Elkhart, IN. It marks the separation between the upper and lower St. Joseph River, on Johnson Street.

The Johnson Street Dam was originally constructed around 1913, according to documentation from the Elkhart Public Library. (Images below) At that time it was called the I&M Dam.


The section of river flowing up to the dam is referred to as the upper St. Joe, and the section flowing after the dam is the lower St. Joe.
