Rack Drainage

Geode Tie Dye Rack Setup: Drainage, and Ice Melt Control

A rack setup for ice dyeing a shirt.

A raised rack allows melted ice and excess dye to drain away from the shirt. You can also get nice results without having drainage (dye in the muck), but bulky sections are harder to full saturate without enough liquid moving through the fabric. Once a secion is wet, it's hard to move dye into that area without it flowing through, by dripping off.
