Sculptures by Rhonda Whitledge at Rebel Art Fest Rhonda Whitledge creates hand-sculpted fantasy figures that feel alive, each with expressive faces and detailed clothing. Her booth at Rebel Art Fest drew steady attention from visitors. At the 2025 Rebel Art Fest in South Bend’s Potawatomi Park, I came across one of the most striking displays of the afternoon. Sculptor Rhonda Whitledge filled her booth with detailed, handmade fantasy creatures, each one with its own distinct expression, posture, and personality. The figures had a cinematic quality, like a glimpse into a fairytale world that existed just beyond sight. Some resembled the figure of a nose, which I found to be delightful. People stopped often, taking time to study the details and talk with her about the characters. Rhonda was warm, and happy to share about her process, and it was clear that each piece was carefully crafted. It's located in Three Rivers, Michigan. Address 59475 County Park Dr, Three Rivers, MI 49093 Phone 269-467-5519 Meyer Broadway Disc Golf Meyer Broadway County Park has two 18-hole disc golf courses. I played Course #2, which stays in the woods for much of the round. Even on a hot day, the shade made it comfortable to play. A mountain bike trail crosses the course in a few places, so keep an eye out for riders before you throw. Near the park entrance is a small putting course that's a good place to warm up. Mountain Bike Trails The park has several miles of mountain bike trails that loop through the woods. Some sections cross the disc golf courses, so both riders and golfers should watch for each other. A trail map is posted near the entrance. Playground and Picnic Areas Near the front of the park are a large playground, picnic pavilions, open grassy areas, and modern restrooms. The layout makes it easy for families to spread out or spend a few hours at the park. Restrooms Modern restroom buildings are located near the playground and picnic shelters. I also found accessible restroom stalls. Park Improvements The park looks like it has seen several improvements recently. The playground equipment, disc golf facilities, signs, and other amenities all appeared to be in good condition during my visit. Things to Do in Three Rivers If you're looking for things to do in Three Rivers, Meyer Broadway County Park packs a lot into one stop. The park has two disc golf courses, mountain bike trails, hiking trails, a dog park, pickleball courts, playgrounds, picnic shelters, and open space to explore. During the winter, the sledding hill and cross-country ski trails are also open when conditions allow. There is a $5 daily vehicle entry fee, which makes it an inexpensive place to spend a few hours if you want to be outside. Whether you're walking the trails, throwing a disc, riding mountain bikes, letting your dog run, or just having a picnic, there's enough here that different people in your group can all find something to do. The Tinley Park Reptile Expo offers more than reptiles. Vendors sell rare houseplants, terrarium vining plants, and carnivorous plants. A great stop for collectors and plant lovers. Rare plants at the Tinley Park Reptile Expo? Several vendors sell rare houseplants alongside reptiles, including terrarium starters, carnivorous species, and collector-grade foliage plants like Thai Constellations and variegated philodendrons. At the Tinley Park Reptile Expo, I always end up spending as much time looking at plants as I do reptiles. Across the three times I’ve been, I’ve found a surprising number of vendors who specialize in rare or enclosure friendly plants. Some bring small starter plants meant to thrive in amphibian or reptile tanks, while others focus on rare tropicals for collectors. The booth shown in the photo had several variegated philodendrons and monstera types, and I picked up a Thai Constellation for $25, which used to be almost impossible to find. There are also carnivorous plants, terrarium vines, and occasional orchid vendors selling from private collections. Last year, I met a woman offering rare shingling plants she’d imported and grown herself, the kind that creep up the sides of glass when the humidity is right. Even if you don’t keep reptiles, it’s worth going just for the plants. Most of the course is shaded, in the woods, and can be played on a hot day. Corky went when it was about 90 degrees, but still worth going since it was shaded. Park Admission There is an entrance fee per vehicle of $3, which you can pay for at the same time that you purchase disc golf wrist bands.
